Leonard Block Company, founded May 5th, 1994 as the former Thomas Block Co
was purchased by Rick & Skip Leonard, who were in the business of manufacturing
concrete blocks for commercial buildings and residential foundations. We
still manufacture them today!
In 1996 we saw the need to expand into the hardscape industry. With the
addition of the Allan Block Retaining Walls manufactured by Nitterhouse
Masonry Products, we also sell all their site amenity products. In 1997 we took on
Hanover Architecture Prest Paver Inc. Business was booming as we were operating
out of our manufacturing facility at 451 Oliver St, Jersey Shore so we decided
to expand due to our rapid growth. Therefore, in 1999 we separated the hardscape product from the block manufacturing and expanded to an additional
location off the Main St. Exit on Route 220 in Jersey Shore, PA. From there
we have expanded into offering mulches, colored stone, sand stone, and topsoil.
We also added on Unilock pavers & retaining walls, Picture pavers from Kennedy
Concrete, linc-log fire places, and manufactured blue stone to our product
lines!
In 2003, we started to get cramped for space again, causing us to start
looking for a larger space, but not wanting to leave the immediate area.
It was not an easy task to overcome. In 2004,
we took on the E.P. Henry line of products, which really stretched us to
the max. With no room to move we were now limited to the amount of
inventory that we could stock and that is not what we wanted, as we are known
for having what you need in stock if not enough for the whole job enough to get
you started and the rest in stock by the time you need it. As luck would
have it, the property across the road became available to Rick to purchase in June
of 2004, so that's when things went into motion to move. With the
excavation on the new lot and a larger office, we now have double the sq.
footage with room for expansion with larger display areas being installed over
the summer of 2005. Also, in 2005, we added the Massarelli's line of fine stone and garden accents
(concrete tables, chairs, statues, benches, figurines, and bird baths).
Due to our abilities to listen to the needs and take care of our customers we
have a large network of landscaping contractors we service. We are
